Ceremonies like the Academy Awards can always expect a wardrobe malfunction to happen, whether it’s on the red carpet, at the ceremony or during the after parties.

But Maria Menounos’ ensemble looked like a disaster waiting to happen before she was even on her way to the occasion. 

The Dancing With The Stars alumni looked great in a bright pink bandeau floor-length gown which she wore with her hair in a bouffant style.

The brunette had to take on an awkward position as she got in the car to make her way to the ceremony though as the design was somewhat uncomfortable for her.

The Extra presenter posted alongside an Instagram picture: ‘This is how I have to sit in the car..the dress has a bustier that's stabbing me! Hahah.’

She explained that choosing and trying on the frock was not done in the most traditional way, meaning she wouldn’t be able to see the predicament coming.

Maria posted alongside a snap of her outfit in a small restroom cubicle: ‘I did my Oscar fitting in the bathroom at the bev hills hotel yesterday...’

E! presenter Kelly Osbourne also shared some behind-the-scenes happenings, laughing in an image of a woman lining her lips with a coloured pencil and a man attending to her purple hair.

Later adding: ‘Just saw my jewelry for tonight!!! Shut it down! Can't wait to show y'all my @simonGjewelry on the red carpet.’

The 44-year-old is part of a music mix performance which will take place at the end of the ceremony and spent the day before rehearsing.

The best-picture prize typically ends the Oscar show, but this time, MacFarlane and Chenoweth will perform a closing number on the Dolby Theatre stage that producers Zadan and Meron called a ‘can't miss' moment.’

Keeping the wraps on whatever surprises they have in store has been a chore for them and MacFarlane.

‘It's been difficult. The press, as you know, is very nosy and sneaky. They're always sniffing around trying to get any advance notice,’ MacFarlane said. ‘It's like Christmas. Wait till Christmas morning. Don't spoil the surprise.’

Ben Affleck's Argo looks like it will claim best picture without a directing nomination, while Lincoln filmmaker Steven Spielberg and star Daniel Day-Lewis are favoured to join exclusive lists of three-time Oscar winners.

Losers at tonight’s event won’t be going home empty handed though.  Along with the presenters, nominees are expected to claim a gift bag worth $47,802.

Stars can take advantage of a holiday at Lizard Island resort in Australia worth $12,000.

A pair of $350 limited edition Carlitos Brand tennis shoes, a certificate for $600 worth of treatments from an L.A. acupuncturist and a $5,000 certificate from a plastic surgeon is also included.
